Our local
restaurants are so quick and easy to get to. Here is a photo
of the award-winning Waterfront Restaurant right
next door to our condo building, the Malaea Yacht Marina.
Our daily favorite is the Maalaea Grill in the Harbor Village
Center. They have a special every lunch time
(the grilled mahi-mahi in a creamy ginger sauce over rice
and a Caesar salad is our favorite) and we usually go for
that. The prices there are very reasonable. We like to get
one of the tables next to the side that opens onto the views
out over the harbor and bay.
Another can't-be-beat view is from the Seascape Maalaea
Restaurant. They are open for lunch, and you feel as if you
are sitting on top of the harbor, checking out all the boats
going in and out during the middle of the day. This open,
airy place is next to and a part of the Maui Ocean Center,
though there is a separate entrance, if you are not in the
Center. The Center also has a little snack bar with sandwiches,
salads, desserts, drinks and the great atmosphere of eating
outside with the pleasant Ocean Center landscaping.
On the ground floor of the Harbor Village - the first restaurant
you'll come to, if you are strolling over from the condo
- is the Beach Bums Bar and Grill. They
have daily specials, great food and the ground level harbor
view. Right at the end of the harbor is the long-standing
Buzz's Wharf. We go for their hamburgers ( from their
bar menu at night) and very tasty curly fries. Everything
we've ordered has been prepared beautifully. The last time
we were there we were watching whales jump out in the bay.
When we are having a very special occasion, we make a reservation
at the restaurant that is in the condo building right next
to ours. We look down from our lanai on the diners there
in the evening sunset. This is the acclaimed Waterfront
Restaurant. It has been voted the best seafood restaurant
on Maui. You'll find it exquisite. Get a table at the edge
of the covered sun porch to watch the waves roll in.

When we look over our lanai towards the condo to our right
we can see the little Tradewinds Market and Deli
that we feel so fortunate to have nearby. We order sandwiches
from deli for picnics. We've slipped over for a carton of
eggs on a Sunday morning or some dip for our chips of an
evening. It seems like they have a little of everything,
but there are large markets seven miles away in Kahululi
to the north or Kehei to the south. You'll find more
information on those in the guest book in the condo.
